FOOD TECHNOLOGY

In St. Alban’s the umbrella of Design & Technology focuses on Product Design and Food Technology. These two areas are supported in Key Stage 3 by Graphical communication skills and CAD/CAM skills which enhance the designing and projects made. Schemes of work in KS3 are reviewed and developed annually to inspire pupils and keep up to date with modern fashions and trends in technology.

This leads pupils towards a Key stage 4 GCSE option of Food & Nutrition. Food & Nutrition is a food science GCSE which focusses on scientific discovery of ingredients and the main food groups to ensure sound background knowledge of this field. There is an emphasis on developing the students’ understanding of what constitutes a healthy lifestyle in terms of what nutrition is required.
