Assembly Thursday 21/6/17

 

There is assembly tomorrow  Thursday 21/6/17 – we need to start at 8.40 because the nominees for Head Boy and Head Girl will be making a presentation during assembly . So please be in the hall by 8. 40

 

Nominees please can you meet me in the hall at 8.30 so I can organise the order for presentations

 

Voting will then start at break time and finish at 3pm on Friday

ROLLING TUTORIAL FRIDAY 9TH JUNE

 

There is rolling tutorial first lesson tomorrow morning. Those in Y12 who are not on study leave need to

  • Carry on researching the UCAS website and/or
  • Complete Welsh Bac coursework and /or
  • Complete BTEC coursework
  • Check emails

 

NB

  1. Please check the emails I have sent this week with details of events etc for the remainder of this term and details of the changes to the school day next week, due to exams . Please can you make sure your friends/peers who are on study leave have read the details as well
  2. I had several nominations for Head Boy /Girl , Senior Prefect, 6th Form Council. If you have not yet emailed please do so  ASAP. I have had asked staff to nominate students as well BUT I do need students to confirm if they are interested in taking on any of these roles . I will be emailing details of the selection process on Monday, when more of the year group are on site . The provisional date for the final interviews is Wednesday 28th June.

CHANGES TO THE SCHOOL DAY MONDAY 12TH – FRIDAY 15TH JUNE,
PLUS TUESDAY 20TH JUNE

 

 

Due to the large number of exams next week – the main hall and 6th Form Common Room will need to be used. This will also mean a change to the normal school day.

 

The 6th From Common Room will need to remain set up for the exams all week and so will be out of use. Please do not go to the study area as an alternative UNLESS you are working, it is vital that the Study area operates as a work area especially during this time.

 

Y12 to help with this situation you have permission, for next week, to come into school later and miss registration, if you do not have lesson 1. Make sure your form tutor knows what you are doing and which day you may be missing from reg .

Y12 Normal lesson timetable will start next -Monday 12th June.

Approximately two thirds of you will have finished your AS exams by this date – for those of you still doing exams you will continue to be able to have study leave –just liaise with your Form Tutors

 

    • A reminder that BTEC and Welsh Bac lessons have been continuing throughout the exam period and if you are not on study leave you should be in these lessons now
    • Registration will return to normal –which means attendance for everyone from 8.40-9am
    • Life skills lessons will be restarting – except for those who still have exams next week
    • Assembly will be on – unless there is an exam in the hall, in which case there will be normal form period
  • 30TH JUNE –our internal BTEC deadline NB By this date you need to have achieved a Pass grade for all your BTEC courses. To meet this deadline BTEC staff  will set early dates by which you need to finish their work. The 30th July is the deadline staff have to give me the finished details -not for you to hand in work . If you do not pass Y12 you will not be able to progress into Y13

 

  • Welsh Bac week Monday 3rd July – Friday 7th July –you will be off normal timetable for this week to complete The Global Citizenship Conference (details will be issued in lessons )
  • Festival Week Monday 10th July-13th July – because this involves the remainder of the school you will not have normal lessons. This would be a good time to organise work experience – the Health students are already doing this. School and home will need to confirm where you are going – I will issue a form for you to complete via your form tutors . NB If you are struggling for possible locations please come and see me, we have a number of contacts with the local community and can help to organise. For those of you who do not want to complete work experience you will be able to continue with coursework
  • UCAS and CUKAS Days – you will have 2 days off timetable completing registration on the UCAS /CUKAS site and be given information for the whole UCAS process .Dates to be confirmed
  • MAT, OXFORD/CAMBRIDGE and CUKAS  students – we will be arranging extra sessions for you before the end of term because  your deadline dates are early in the new term . CUKAS 1ST October and OXF/CAM 15th November
  • Selection for new Head Boy /Girl team , Senior Prefects and 6th Form Council -details to be confirmed and emailed ASAP. A reminder that you were asked to nominate yourself if you wish to be considered for any of these roles, by the end of today . If you have not done this please email me ASAP
  • School Inset Friday 14th July and Monday 17th July
  • End of term Friday 21st July

 

A reminder

Please check your school emails daily. There are a number of days in the next few weeks when the normal school day times will need to change – this is because of exams taking place in not only the normal rooms but also the hall and 6th Form Common room. As soon as these times have been confirmed I will email out the details
